Try, try, try again. Dude, my wife and I had problems getting pregnant as well. A couple of surgeries (hers) later and we struck pay dirt. Best of luck to you my friend!
Frankly I feel like a right prick moaning about it when I hear the lengths others have had to go through. We are still relatively early in the whole process, 5 months gone, 6 I guess will be a bit of a milestone but when I hear about individuals needing 23, 18, 12 months etc, it puts it in perspective.
One thing I am curious about though, you mentioned surgery. How long were you trying before you decided to bring the doctors into the picture?
The general rule I've seen seems to be 12 months, but the way I see it, the sooner I know if there's anything amiss the better.
I'm not sure if that would improve the tension or not, but at the moment it can't get much worse.
You nailed it. It was about a year when we started getting nervous. Actually, we had unprotected sex for the first 4 years of our marriage using our own method of birth control...(backing the car out of the garage) and figured that method was fool proof. Not until we started trying whole heartedly did we actually think something was amiss. All told, perhaps 5 years...? Not sure. Hope that helps, but I would have her talk to her OB as soon as you can just to start getting the ball rolling.
Thanks for the somewhat personal info, this is stuff you don't normally get to hear so it does help.
I think on the face of it, we will keep going as we are until after Christmas, and if nothing has budged by then we will probably get some further expertise in.
That will have given us 8-9 months to blow off the cobwebs of years of contraceptive pill, and clean out our respective tubing...
but you never know, I could be knee deep in regret, mandarin and corned beef sandwiches, and unbalanced hormones by then.

Ummmm... I'm guessing it didn't work out this month?
If not don't sweat it, man. It will all be worth it in the end.

23 months? Boo's best friend Buddy Boy was nearly 9 years in the making.
Not sure if that'll make you feel better... so suffice it to say that his mom thinks it was worth every single minute.
9 years....
there goes my breakfast
