Clockwise

Last night, nobody noticed when the world stopping spinning.

Well, why would they, it's quite slow anyway.

Yet, stop it did, giving a deep sigh, slowing starting up again in the opposite direction.

Everything back from whence it came.

Cats started barking and mice chased dogs. Muggers stole from one another and gave their loot to little old ladies.

Fish sported canes and giraffes held tea parties. Paperboys placed your daily reads gently on the doorstep and closed the gate behind them.

You stopped on green, went on red, pressed up to go down, and down to go up.

You remembered your mother's birthday, your door keys, and to pay the phone bill.

You forgot your team lost on Sunday, that you can't really afford that uber coffee, and that some guy yelled at you on the train.

Maybe all these things didn't really happen, but I think they must have, how else could you explain how ET and I celebrated her getting her period and the passing of another cycle.

Twenty behind us, the sweltering tarmac of cycle twenty-one stretching ahead of us. Our freshly serviced engine is gleaming in the sunshine, and revving, ready to burst forward at a millisecond's notice.

Roll on next week, spinning anti-clockwise, this could be the one.

I hope and hope and hope that it is!!

Just don't get your tyres stuck in the sweltering tarmac!

Good luck, m'seiur.

I can't forget the team's loss on Sunday, it hurts too much. How dare you compare the arrival of a splotch to the possible implosion of our entire season?

Shame on you!

Oh, lucky 21! I hope this is it for you. :)

I never thought I'd say this on the internet....Hooray for you guys DOING IT! Go forth and multiply, K?

Happy period! May the next one not arrive...

I did stop on green--how did you know?

Have you ever considered going to a naturopath or using herbs or chinese herbalists??? It may just be a body imbalance of zinc or something simple like that. Get a good herb book. Give you something to do instead of being super randy all the time! LOL Good luck...

hope hope hope hope hope.

for a while there i was wondering if maybe you'd gotten your hands on a little too much herbal happiness.

but then, if a cycle must fail, better that it does so quickly so that you can get going on the next one.

They're selling more than pot in the infamous coffee shops over there, aren't they? Stop sampling the wares.

And you know what they say? "Twenty-first time lucky".

Well, I say that anyway. Wanna make something of it?

When I saw "clockwise" on my blogroll, and then saw it was your post, well...honesty compels me to tell you I briefly wondered if...how can I put this? Let's just say Karma Sutra-type positions wandered through my brain for a second.

Based on your previous posts, you understand, I don't have my mind in the gutter all the time (although my husband has been gone for a couple weeks.)

That perhaps there was some weird new position that improves your chances or something.

Yeah, I totally don't know why I am sharing this, so I will stop now...

I just have to tell you (I think I've told you this before actually) that I think you are such an amazing writer. You've got such a way with words and imagery. I am always so impressed.

As for this cycle, you know I'm cheering you on all the way from Canada...

IrishNYC said...

You had me full of hope for a moment, just as I hope each and every month for each and every one of us dealing with this shite.

They say 21 is a lucky number. Cheers to hoping it is!

Tara R. said...

Good luck bumping uglies. Fingers crossed for you two.

I guess it probably goes without saying but I'm going to say it anyway. You're ability to continue to write about this seemingly single struggle with so many dimensions is absolutely impressive. I really wish we were reading your take on fatherhood and parenting at this point and I'm sure you wish that is what you were writing. I'm positive you will be one day.

I just want to say thanks for the great writing. The colorful prose. The deep shades of gray.

You two will get there. All the best to you and ET.

I forgot that I IM'd you. But I did remember that I forgot to pay my credit card bill.

I'm thinking this is a good time of year to get knocked up.

After all this is said and done, this will be just one of a long list of things you thought you would never do.
