It’s 10am. Or 4am. I’m not so sure anymore.
The gut is waking up.
The television is on and some over enthusiastic Chinese man is trying to convince me to pick up the phone and buy something that I can’t possibly live without at 4:30am. It seems dead of the night TV is the same on both sides of the Atlantic.
The gut has just hopped up from the bed thanks to a leg cramp.
ET’s belly made two significant ‘pops’ at 12 and 16 weeks, and it seems that now, at almost 19, it has popped a little more.
We can’t be certain if it is just rumbling intestines or not, but she has been feeling flutters and movements. Very noticeable when cycling, and settling when she has eaten.
The gut has just announced she thinks it’s awake. Not a bad way to start a holiday.
So that’s all three of us with our European body clocks, wide awake in Montreal at 5am.
Any Montreal Monday morning suggestions for me and the mutating mammy?

Poutine.
Only cause it sounds disgusting.
oh and FIRST!
*snort*
That's so not rumbling intestines.
find a cafe depot and bring your laptop. Free wifi and a great atmosphere. I used to go there when I was visiting a friend in Montreal 10 years ago (Oh god...I think I 'm getting old!) And I loved it. The one we went to was downtown on a main street on a corner. I believe the side street bordering it was pedestrianized and near a big park. Great for people watching.
No advice, just- yes, ET is feeling her baby. It's time and that's what it is.
Enjoy your vacation!
Isn't it supposed to feel like butterfly wings? I so remember that time...
I guess the hiccuping will be along soon. God, I loved the hiccuping.
Oh my gosh! That is sooo the baby! They love to be fed! It makes them terribly "kicky!" How exciting!!! I'm so happy for you!
Also, poutine is AMAZING!!! a true delicacy.
Oooh, how exciting. Both feeling the baby move and being in Montreal.
The rumbling, it gets stronger and stronger until you can pinpoint where it is.
It will be awhile before you will be able to feel it from the outside, then one day you will feel a little push against your hand. It is amazing.
My partner used to cuddle my belly and our baby would kick his arm starting from one end and going along to the other, then back again.
Definitely poutine!!! I wish I remembered this restaurant in the old part of town where I ate... it looked like a little cottage and the food was fabulous... just what the mutating mammy needs! But definitely poutine...
are you feeding those 2? - any bizarre food cravings yet?
Yup, there's a baby in there. Little butterflies and "what the hell was that" feelings in the belly.
Enjoy this side of the pond!
Just go back to bed.
I'm jealous as ever that you are in Montreal. By the way, I'm going to Ireland soon for fun...I'll be emailing you.
My sister complained all the way up to about 25 weeks she never felt the baby move. At which point (she is very skinny) we on the OUTSIDE could SEE the baby move. We told her. She looked bewildered. She stammered: "I, I thought it was wind..."
So, yes, rumbles. Is baby. Hurrah!
Also, Montreal! Woo-hoo!
Poutine?? What is that please? Anybody?
Yay! Movements!
Makes it all the more real, doesn't it? Point out all the sites to fitz as you go along on your vacation.
You're only about 2 hours away from me.
Find a Tim Hortons. The best and most Canadian coffee you'll find. For lunch have poutine or go to Schwartz's deli

Go to old Montreal down by the port. It's my favourite place in the city.
I'm still waiting to pop... Sigh, still look like I've been having nightly beer runs.
don't take those cramps lightly. they hurt like hell. i've screamed louder the few times i had them than when i was actually in labor.
