Something in my eye

Father's day was never something that registered with me, it never really came into my radar.

I woke yesterday morning in a self inflicted haze, to find ET standing over me.

My fear that she was about to beat me about the head and face with a bedside lamp or some such weapon was luckily found to be uncalled for.

She presented me with a gift and card, the card read as follows:

I'm somewhat concerned as to where ET may have developed paper cuts in retrieving the card, but for a six week old embryo with a couple of buds for hands, that is some nifty penmanship.

Another day of moronic grinning followed.

I'm sending a little Father's Day love of my own your way on my blog tonight! Congrats again!

suzannanana said...

Happy first fathers's day. May there be many to follow. Just thrilled for you both.

AFM insisted on a Fathers Day present when I was pregnant. Unfortunately he didn't insist that I get a Mothers Day present!

You must have a pain in your jaw from all the smiling I am imagining you doing at the moment!

This post overfloweth with mush. I think I liked the cycle-passage-lamenting, spencer-cussing you better

I was going to say something about putting Baby in a corner, but I got something in my eye too..

Mistress B said...

That's so sweet. Happy Father's Day!

Veronica said...

I'm just wondering how badly your cheeks hurt at the moment. Surely all that smiling is giving your face a huge work out?

Lovely. Absolutely lovely.

Bonnie B. said...

Grin like an idiot all you want and be as mushy as you want. You certainly have worked very hard to be where you are!! (oh, and you too, ET)

Widdle Shamrock said...

Here's to the first of MANY Father's Day for you.

And may I agree with you, if the child is writing like that now, he/she'll be a Shaw or Yeats by the time February comes around.

Dan said...

at least the card wasn't one of those home made ones made with macaroni. That would have been very unpleasent to extract.

Lucky little bugger. When I was a kid, I wanted my own dwarf to play with. Your bubba will call his or hers, 'daddy'

frogpondsrock said...

Nifty penmanship indeed. Do you need an ice-pack for your achey face? Oh and My birthday is in February as well. A most auspicious month.

'Murgdan' said...

...and a happy Father's Day to you.

River said...

Gosh, I'm getting soppy from all these happy posts. Teary eyed and grinning at the same time. What a wonderful thing for ET to do.

Happiest of Father's Days to you, my friend.

Liz said...

Ahhh!

B said...

That card has me grinning stupidly.

I hope the full size image isn't to scale though, would've taken the poor child ages to write.

Rachel said...

That is oozing with cuteness. I can't wait for you to meet either!

I remember when my wife was pregnant with our first. I bought her a little Precious Moments figurine of a pregnant mother. She bawled and bawled.

I thought about you a lot yesterday. How this was your first Father's Day. And I grinned a bit as well . . .

Maura said...

Precious. Maybe you should give the poor little thing a hand massage or something. Just put your finger on ET's belly and vibrate it a little. Hm. I guess that'd be more like a full body massage...

WhatAboutNovember said...

Awww. One of the sweetest things ever. I might also have something in my eye after reading that.

Lovely Words those!

Errr...did ET gift you the chimes?

Happy Father's Day!

Swear to God... stop making ME cry. You're the one having a baby, not me.

I thought about you on Father's Day myself! First, I wasn't sure that Father's Day was an holiday that was celebrated the same day across many countires. Second, I was wondering if you felt especially giddy this particular Father's Day! I'm glad you did!!!

I just can't wait till next Father's Day (for us both)!

Chelsea Lietz said...

too sweet! I wish I'd thought of that.

Grinning madly for you!

Deb said...

Awww... so, so sweet.

When Baby is old enough to scribble on his/her own cards, be warned: you may not be able to get them back. Hubby had to read his card over my son's shoulder yesterday, because the child refused to let him have it. Oh, the warm glow of parenting...

Susanica said...

Just so you know...when the baby comes out, that cord that is attached is NOT a father's day tie. ;-)

Ian Newbold said...

Moronic grinning really suits you dude.

NicEmMOM said...

The times like that will be forever in your heart! My daughters (both 5 right now) wake up every Father's day around midnight to wish my hubby happy dad's day, they have done this every year, with out fail and without my help. Hubby goes charter fishing every year and leaves at 2am so he snuggles them and they eat it up! Happy 1st Father's day!

B said...

Huh?
Just cheered me up to Lars and the Real Girl levels.

HAPPY FATHERS DAY!!!

I'm not one for crying, but I was pretty close to it just now. I missed mothers day here by 15 days but Emily was still born in the same month.

Her daddy said, 'Ner-Ner I get fathers day before you get mothers day!!!'

(Mothers Day here is in May and Fathers Day in September. Emily was born on the last day of May.)

This time next year you can spend fathers day with your little baby! Thats a nice thought :-)

@Single Parent Dad - This smiling business is alien to me.

@NicEmMOM - That's lovely.

@B - That's always good!

@A Free Man - It never enetered my head to be honest, I lovethat she did that though.

@Sniffle - about 10 days to go!

@Laski - it will be very advanced for a 4 month old!

@darcie - Very, very, very.
