Just How Long...

...was I out of it for?

I arrived home this evening to find our first Christmas card in our postbox....

November 26th.For the first time in over 30 years, I'm speechless.

I can beat that...unfortunately. We got the mail after being away for Thanksgiving. It was November 23rd, the first Christmas card had arrived. I guess I'm happy they waited until after one holiday to usher in the next. Jeez. It's enough to make me bah-humbug with the rest of the Ebeneezer Scrooge's and it's not even December!

Dear me, a Christmas card already? What kind of sick bastard would send you a Christmas card this early?? (My apologies in advance if the aforementioned sick bastard is, like, your grandmother or something...) But still.

Sorry to hear about the cold. Do you have something called "Emergen-C" where you are? I swear by the stuff. It's like this powdered vitamin packet that you mix into water and drink. It's great for colds.

Hope you're feeling better by the time you read this!

Hey Monique ! Good to 'see' you about !
10 bucks says you get a Christmas card before Halloween next year.

Hilary, I would SO love to say that it was sent by a dying grandparent or some such but I've used up all my dead grandparent lies.

It actually came from my wife's younger brother who has recently moved to Australia, and I think in his eagerness to ensure that he didn't send any cards too late, may have sent them a wee bit too soon.
I'm still gonna rip the piss out of him for it though when I see him again, the wally.

Emergen-C? I'll stop you right there, you can get stoned in this country from 16 years of age, but you can't get a decent cold remedy.
What can I say, the Dutch are, 'unique'.

I'd take some pot over a cold remedy any day.

Wow that's cool, you must be so overwhelmingly happy!

This morning they were playing Christmas music in the creche. I had "The Child Is Born" stuck to my brains the whole way to work and drove The Other Half absolutely nuts by humming it.

AND IT WAS NOT MY FAULT, DAMMIT!

@FBD - You gotta admit it though, when you hear the first few notes of 'fairytale of new york' you get that Christmassy glow regardless of the time of year eh?

@struglas - you could be onto something, we could reverse the year, thanksgiving in March, Christmas in July, st patricks day in september, my annual bath in Oct...Ooops.

thanks for popping in and taking the time to comment too, appreciated!

WTF! I hate those lunatics. I mean, is their lives that uneventful that they are all like,
"man, its October already? Lets get to those cards and fast. Billy, you are on postage stamp duty, Jill you do the return address stamps. I will write a personalized message, now lets go people! Move! MOve! Move!" Thats how I picture it anyways...

You got a card on the 26th? Who are these people so I can beat them with my wiffle bat.

Okay, so let me just say, I bought my Christmas cards like the first week of November. I proceeded to sign all of them, address them, stamp them, and now I'm waiting for Ace's pictures to come back before mailing them out. However, I have been holding back sending them for over 3 weeks now! I'm so excited I can hardly wait, but I have a good excuse, it's Ace's first Christmas!!!
