Two little ducks

I'm going out on a limb and hoping everyone is a bingo call expert, otherwise 'two little ducks' will mean nothing to you.

Two little ducks is the number twenty two. Picture it, see?.

Anyway, here we are again, cycle twentyfeckingtwo and CD09.

I'm not quite sure why I thought it would be otherwise, but Christmas markets are not the best place to visit to take your mind off of that wee minor issue of childlessness and a long and lonely existence stretching out in front of you.

Relax, I'm being facetious. I'm allowed, but I am glad it's over.

It's time for another week or more, of ET pissing on thermometers and shoving OPKs into her gob. Or vice versa, whatever works.

The battery is feeling a little bit flat this time. More so than in a long time. While technically the mechanics will operate as they should, it's better to be looking forward to it.

Hopefully it's just a temporary thing and I'll be (s)laying ET with stallionesque prowess before you can say 'droop'.

So here we go again, one more time into the big bad world of trying to conceive.

Not a certainty in sight, but we'll go anyway, waddling off, two little ducks.

Hang on in there Spencer... the fun will return...

Not sure how you were planning your festive schedule, but can I please urge you to steer clear of Nativity Services at all costs? I'm sure you will evade them in any case: it was only me that was absent minded enough to stumble along to one, post-IVF, post-miscarriage, in order to belatedly realise that... hey! It's all about a BABY! And cute little kiddies! And I'm surrounded by friends and family who MUST NOT SEE ME CRY! Ach.

I'm so sorry that this is taking such a long time for you both. I'm so sure it WILL happen for you, but the 'when' aspect is currently being a total pisser. Sigh.

Good luck with the waddling, Spence.

Hmmm...
Is there a French maid costume in ET's future?
A gorilla suit in yours?
I am sure this is totally inappropriate and unhelpful but I'm going for the laugh.

Ducks and donkeys lately, huh? I'm hoping you and ET can find some quiet non-thinking-about-babies time this holiday just to be with each other. (And I'm not even being all euphemistic there...) Here's to some joy coming your way. (Again, perhaps not the best word choice...)

Best of luck. I have a good feeling about this one.

Two little ducks, to me, is reminiscent of an endless nursery rhyme that has me offering up "The Wheels on the Bus" as a pleasant alternative. Yep, that bad.

For all the years of trying I avidly avoided all kiddie magnets... no zoos, pumpkin patches, turned down invitations to friends parties because I knew there would be kids. It all just seems like a slap in the face of your efforts.

Hang in there.

Relax. Christmas is about overeating, marathon-shopping and Die Hard 2. Keep focussing on that.

(And BTW, subfertile is a million times better than infertile. I know you're not thrilled, but I'm thrilled for you).

I hope this year Christmas is fruitful for you.

Liz said...

And there was I thinking the title was rhyming slang.

WhatAboutNovember said...

is it because it's Christmas and the one thing we wanted we can't have? is that why this cycle is so deflating for both of us? hm. well, little duck, good luck.

Marissa said...

best of luck on the double duece try.

refuse, resist, never give up. *hugs*

If it walks like a duck... and quacks like a duck... oh hell... I hope you swoop in like a ginormous condor.

Lea said...

Hoping you get a really good christmas present. :)

Stacy said...

it's almost over

Kori said...

Stallionesque? Is that a word, dude? If not, it should be. Gob, however, should NOT. At least not in that context.

@hairyfarmerfamily - you know what, that's good advice.
As much as I enjoy seeing these event etc, it's just too bloody tough at times.

@Joe - I think he's been doing too much waddling to date.

@Ms Moon - Well don't worry about being unhelpful, in the end only one thing will help.
Inappropriateness is encouraged!

@Morninglight mama - 2 posts referring to ducks in just a couple of days!
Thanks!

@Sadia - Oh God, you do?

@IrishNYC - It's just hard to enjoy them.
it SHOULD be fun watching all the activities, but its just not.

@tinman18 - Hhmmm, do you really believe that's what it's about!

;0)

@iVegasFamily - thank you.

@womb 4 improvement - I'm going ducking mental!

@WhatAboutNovember - In short, yes.

@Marissa - 22 is a lucky number isn't it...

@Tara R - disturbing mental images there...

@Lea - what year? ;0)

@IEAT_SNOWMANPOOP - er...should I ask, what is?

@Kori - Gob is mouth in this part of the world!

@Putz - The work option isn't really a possibility here for many reasons, but you are correct that I do need a distraction.
Something to work on.

Come on, the double 2's have to be some kind of good luck, right? Or maybe you should go find a 4 leafed clover. Or a rainbow and a leprechaun...

We are spending Christmas in a hotel this year. Well away from family, anyone else's family, nativity plays, and any and all renderings of 'Little Donkey'. So bloody there.

We will however be spending New Year at my mothers and will have to be summoning up the will to live because the Clomid will be FORCING us to. Oh joy.

Go, little ducks. You can do it. Pretend you're teenagers and really really shouldn't be doing it at all.

Facetious?

Such a big word for a little man.

I suggest getting ET a Mrs Claus outfit to get you in the mood.

Rawr.

Anonymous said...

Not a Mrs Claus outfit... a Mrs Claws outfit (rawr) maybe that will help scratch the itch?

No?
No.
You're right.
Sorry about that.
Very poor taste and at this time of year too.
I'm digging myself into a hole, aren't I?

You know, I am thinking of you guys every single day and, although I don't pray,if I thought it would make a difference I would. You both deserve such happiness.

G said...

Christmas is a great excuse to drink a ton to help get you in the mood :)

the waiting stretching out in front of you can be soul destroying but don't let it beat you.

I found this today ... Henri Nouwen says about waiting:

Waiting is never a movement from nothing to something, but a movement from something to something more. It’s a promise that nurtures and feeds us and enables us to stay where we are. By our waiting, the promise can gradually unfold and realize itself within us and through us.

Waiting does suck ...insert your own expletives ...and at Christmas time there is nothing worse than childlessness not by choice.

Anonymous said...

So you're hoping for "One fat lady" next then?

Anonymous said...

Okay maybe the christmas markets don't help but maybe the Gluhwein can soften the edge?

It's perfectly normal for this to be hitting you especially hard this month. Not only because those loons got your hopes up only to dash on them, but also because of the holidays. What a horrible time of year to have to go through. Unfortunately, so many of us reading your blog understand too well. However, fortunately for you because you have tons of people to rant to without feeling like you're being a bother! We totally get the screaming, crying, ranting, raving bitterness that you might need to release upon us!
This won't last forever, M. I have to believe in my heart that you guys will see this dream come true. You deserve it. I have no choice but to believe you'll get it.

Hopefully ET will soon be pregnancy waddling.

Martin said...

@Veronica - maybe I will, they are all out of unicorns though.

@nutsinmay - If we lived back home, Id be heading for a hotel too I think. LOCKDOWN.

@Kelley - Should I stick to shorter words? I've a few four letter ones for you if you prefer...

@tiff - ;0)
thanks Tiff.

@G - In the mood for puking yes.

@Quickroute - Now you are just stealing my posts dude...

@Chhandita - Well I must say, for the vast majority of the time it's gone ok, and it will again. Good luck to you guys.

@Trish - The poem doesn't do much for me I think, we are definitely at 'nothing' at the moment. Thanks.

@Tismee2 - There goes another of my posts...

@conortje - It bloody does! Friday was -3 and they kept the cold out.

@Angel - Thank you. I hope it doesn't go to waste.

@River - we can only hope really.

Christmas is very hard... and worse when you realize Mary and Joseph "weren't even trying." dang, they didn't even do it!

how's that for a slap in the face?

Jo Beaufoix said...

Ahhh xbox, sorry mate. But maybe 2009 is the year you know?? Hugs to you both. And maybe you need to et ET some nice new undies for her stocking? Or some stockings for her stocking?? Just a thought to encourage Spencer.

AnnD said...

Keep on humpin! I want a baby out of you two yet! I can't imagine what this time of the year is like for the two of you, so difficult and so cruel. I hate to see you go through this.

Craig D said...

Maybe your doctor is a QUACK. I wouldn't pay his BILL if I were you. He obviously doesn't care about your MALLARDy. But who gives a FLOCK, anyway, because, um... er... something to do with webbed feet and, um, migration. Um...

Rita's Rants n Raves said...

xbox I agree with G, maybe both your body and ET's body will be all whacked at the sight of booze in your system which could mean a good thing. I feel your pain, for two years my hubby and I tried to conceive and nothing, but people all around us were getting pregnant, and all I could do was cry. Shortly afterwards we were blessed with twins! Didn't think I could handle two at one time but we did, of course we did the fertility crap, shooting up for a few weeks was not how I planned on getting knocked up but we did what we had to do. Your time will come soon my friend, just have faith and soon you will be blogging about morning sickness then the diaper changing. I can't wait for posts on the diaper changing ;)

Still sending good thoughts.

Martin said...

@Tanya - that's one way to look at it!

@geeksinrome - I wonder did they have to wait two years?

@Jo Beaufoix - Thanks jo.

@AnnD - There have been better times, indeed.

@Craig D - That may just be the best comment ever left here, sir!

@Rita's Rants n Raves - Lots of maybes! well done on getting through it.

@gnomespeak - pretty much all numbers are, aren't they?

@James Austin - Cheers!

Craig D said...

xbox - Looks like you didn't quite rinse all of that sarcasm off.

Martin said...

@CraigD - not at all! That made me laugh.

Craig D said...

So I really do quack you up!

Martin said...

@CraigD - Was all this just a set up so you could use that line?
