Beyond here lies nothin'

I had another post written. I just re-read it and it was an unbelievable mess, a huge mixed-up confusion, so instead, I threw it all away.

Back when the IUI was cancelled, somewhere in between them telling us everything is broken and ET pulling up her dignity, we were told that we had to arrange to speak to the doctor again in order to see what the next steps would be.

"Ok", you may say, "just do that then".

Well bless your wee heart and your cotton socks jokerman, but things don't work quite that straight forward here in Mozambique, sorry, the Netherlands. That takes time.

In the meantime, we had to decide whether to try ourselves or not. Eventually, I got my mind made up, and we went for it. Lay lady lay we did, and we delivered to those eggs many a shot of love.

Anyway, ET phoned the hospital in order to make an appointment to speak to the doctor. Calling to make an appointment, to make an appointment, if you will.

All went well and there was an opening to speak to the doctor by phone 10 days later. That appointment was just the other day.

The doctor proceeded to tell us a load of stuff we have been saying for months, but the long and short of it is we try another medicated IUI. Instead of the previous 100mg of Clomid, she offered 50mg, a fool such as I would have taken her up on that offer, but ET decided on 25mg. Just like a woman.

She had rarely seen such a case of hyper stimulation so she won't let us do it next cycle, but the one after that.

The times they are a-changin', this is already looking like stretching into June, again, and that makes my brain hurt.

Now, if you can't tell from this entry what concert we're going to in a couple of days, there really is no hope for you. If you can, and can pick out the 16 song titles of that artist in this post you win a prize. I want you to.

The prize is my respect and the contempt of everyone else.

The answer my friends, will be blowin' in the wind.

Is Bob Dylan even alive?

Angel said...

Aww man, I knew you were referencing Bob Dylan immediately. Kelley beat me, though.

So a month off and then more drugs. At least they're doing something, darlin'.

Angel said...

Okay, somebody help me because I don't want to start googling this entire post, word for word, to find the Dylan songs!

So far I've got "Beyond Here Likes Nothin'", "Jokerman", "Mozambique", "Lay Lady Lay", "Just like a Woman", "The Times They are A-Changin'", "Blowin' in the Wind", "Everyting is Broken", "Bye and Bye", "Unbelievable"

Somebody find the rest! Hurry!

Angel said...

Okay, scratch "Bye and Bye"... my fingers were working faster than my brain.

AnnD said...

All I have are questions...why do they want to wait another month? Do they expect another plethora of eggs to be released without the drugs this month as though the meds are still in her system? Also, am I to assume the red menace has come again?

Martin said...

@Kelley - Well he has 70 quid of my cash so he better be.

@Angel - oooh, excluding the fictional Bye bye, you have 9 there...

@AnnD - They wait a month between medicated cycles normally anyway, recovery time for the body, and in case any follicles turn to cysts. But especially in this case when she was very over stimulated it's wiser.

No, no red menace, yet. But we have to keep planning ahead.

Rikki said...

"I Threw it All Away", "I Want You", "Shot of Love"...Angel got most of 'em and I can't figure out the rest. Very clever Xbox...

Sarah said...

I didnt think he was still alive either Kelley, Bob Dylan that is.

Ms. Moon said...

"Is Bob Dylan even alive?"
Yes. And I hope Xbox reports in on the concert. If it's half as good as the last time I saw Dylan it'll be a life-altering experience.
Actually, I'm hoping for Xbox and ET to have more than one life-altering experiences here in the next few days.

RRP said...

Hope the concert is awesome! I saw him about 9 years ago and remember thinking I was glad the venue was near a hospital because I sort of thought he'd drop dead on stage!

Crossing everything that the froggies brought you luck this month!

..al said...

Beat me to it? I have no hope. Anyways really not!

It is funny about you writing about IF...not because there is some casual-ness involved, but because of it being stated from the male side of the Niagara Falls.

Ha....what can be said...go for that IUI....but right now, till the hot hot hot days don't come around...just enjoy yourselves.

Yeah, and do tell me what that concert shall be...

Is it Lionel Richie? or Razorlight?

Susanica said...

You had me at "lay lady lay" when it comes to guessing singers.

So, as I understand it, you'll just be doing a natural cycle next month if you don't get a positive pregnancy test this time.

Maybe this hyperstimulation this months will produce a perfect stimualtation without any drugs this next month if that's the case.

So your "natural cycle" could be the lucky charm. Just a thought. All the best to you two okay? -Monica

Um ... is 'Dignity' one?

Actually scratch that, I don't know what I'd do with your respect.

I was getting depressed, and it made me wonder if the Smiths had reunited.

You know I would know that artist of reference. Matter of fact, I have every vinyl LP of the tracks you mentioned in this post. Well, anything older than 1980 anyway. The rest are on CD now. So maybe this weekend Spencer will do some egg hunting of his own and crack one open.

Have a great time at your show!

I liked it better when I thought I was smarter than you. I can't read you anymore becuase you made MY brain hurt this morning. ARSEHOLE! :)

You have FAR too much time on your hands.

'DYE-LAN" as my mother called him, after seeing him in concert and walking out. WALKING OUT! Thought he was beyond boring. Um, my mom's not exactly into "classic rock" LOL!

So, the good news is that ET does respond to Clomid, albeit maybe a bit too well. It's better to give her body a break anyway, it's not the most comfortable feeling having all those follicles rarin' to go.

And hopefully you won't need the next IUI cycle anyway...

Happy weekend, my friend and enjoy the concert. Once baby's here, those will be few and far between...

James (SeattleDad) said...

That is sounding very familiar. Minus the Dylan, of course.

Mick said...

I never would've got it if I hadn't read the comments. I'm a bit blunt when it comes to the ould music.

June's the best month of the year, mind you...

To all those wondering if Dylan is still alive, I quote Simon and Garfunkel - 'When you say Dylan, he thinks you're talking about Dylan Thomas, whoever he was. The man ain't got no culture.'

I can't look for song titles. I'm too envious. If I read the post again I might just die. Did you know I share my birthday with Dylan? I think my mother held on the extra few hours just to make me happy. And now you want me to read and re-read your post, just so I can prove it.

As for the other news, June, huh. Huh and double huh. June. Pffft. Re-crossing fingers.

Enjoy the man. I'm sorry to have to admit that I only knew two of them.

Fingers crossed that June doesn't need to happen.

Ooo, I think Robin just beat me to it! But I was probably cheating by using wikipedia! ;) And yeah, I didn't even know he was still alive either! Whoops!
Here's hoping the "natural" cycle this next month does the trick! (or even this month right now!)

Dylan gives me a headache he has such a whiny voice.. on and on and on and on... Ack..

But I did see him in concert about 15 years ago and he was really good.He isn't as whiny IRL.. or maybe I had just found that tin.. I can't remember, lol enjoy the concert.

Robin said...

Did I get it right? Do I not get props because you said I "copied". Yes, I peeked at one and got it wrong, but I worked really (and I mean really) hard to find the rest.

CableGirl said...

Delays suck. Sorry.

I love Dylan. Yeah, I could probably pick them out but not without rereading and I've got dinner to make. Have a great time at the show. Good luck with the 25 mg in June.

It made me feel young to miss the vast majority of those Dylan references. Thanks for that.

Always good to have a plan. It rescues you when the ole witch arrives.Any chance of a plain old fashioned IUI next month no meds? It would mean a month is not wasted & no risks of sextuplets. It worked for me!Enjoy the gig!

So, one more cup of coffee 'fore I go, for the patience and the thinking and the settling things. Hold tough Xbox.

No red menace yet? although it is the 12th here no, I'm still hoping there's no red menace...

Not a bob Dylan fan. Not at all. Enjoy the concert though.

It sucks having to wait.

I know what I would do...

Hoping that the RM doesn't sail in.

B said...

I don't think I'll ever see Dylan or Van Morrison, both are meant to be pretty bad live 95% of the time... but then have an amazing gig every now and then that would ensure I'd have my hopes too high.

I need to see all those acts in the same way as I seen the stranglers, middle of a sunday afternoon missing two members, not one good song in 25 years.

Would it surprise you to know he has a song called 100mg of clomid?
wouls it surprise me if you told me my joke backfired?

Jenni said...

So, I'm reading this post and I'm thinking, "Um, are there a lot of Bob Dylan references in this post, or is it just me?" Because I'm clever like that.

I think folks have gotten most, maybe not Mixed up Confusion, Got my Mind Made Up, A Fool Such as I.

you will be going to a peter paul and mary concert of puff the majic dragon who livwes by the sea and froloics in the autumn mist...well you know

Hope you enjoyed Bob Dylan!! I Kelley must be very young not to know that Bob Dylan is in fact very much alive and doing Broadway....

Martin said...

@Missives From Suburbia - I'm here to serve!

@meabh - It would be a possibility, but we'll be in Ireland at just the wrong time!

@Sniffle&Cry - It's tough alright, all the waiting.

@River - Nope, nothing yet. A few days yet anyway.

@tiff - Oh, what would you do?

@B - he's prolific, but not that prolific, must say, it was very very good.

@Jenni - Whispers...they were all named a while back... ;-)

@Putz - there was a certain element of puffthe magic dragon there alright! but that's Amsterdam for you.

@Horse - She's just pretending!

I was going to say Elton John...
I guess AFM has all the music genes in our family:)

Glad you enjoyed the concert.

Here's hoping to a screaming positive post in a week or so.

Oh, you make me cry, no song. Hope is hope and all will be right with the world... eventually.
Lighter note, at the very least, you are NOT looking for a job.
take care.

A Free Man said...

That would be Bob Dylan, but you gave it away in the last sentence. Where's my prize.

Sorry for your continuing struggles with the Dutch medical system. But it could be worse. You could be in Mozambique.

Or the U.S. where you would now be several tens of thousands of dollars in debt.

Seriously, where's my prize.

Martin said...

@Sinead - Oh dear.

@Widdle Shamrock - There'll be bscreaming anyway.

@Anonymous - This is true, our problems are relative.

@A Free Man - You'll have to wrestle Robin up there for it, she wasn't letting it pass....

@Ed - We actually do!
